Fire in the Hole! Mid Ohio style
Here's the view from inside the car after it caught on fire. This was after I've already been hit 3 times by other cars. NASA National Championships at Mid Ohio was the place. In-car videos on the Video page. And the after-incident pictures in the gallery.
A journey into the heart of (Porsche) Darkness
PCA at Watkins Glen - June 2006
Team ECI traveled to the NY Finger Lakes, where we discovered... rain ... oh, that sounds familliar Race Report and Gallery here
PCA at Mid Ohio - May 2006
Team ECI traveled to Ohio in search of sun & fun. But a split radiator hose ... oh, that sounds familliar Race Report here
PCA at Road Atlanta - April 2006
Team ECI traveled to the South for first time in years to that Temple of Speed: Road Atlanta. I won the fun race and the sprint in I class. But a split radiator hose put me out in the enduro. Race Report here and got 370+ pics in the gallery.
44Cup at VIR - Feb Heat Wave
The 44Cup Season started a bit too early me thinks. Over a 3 day weekend, we had 70 degrees and sun, snow/rain race with 35 degrees, and a crash filled race with sun but 25 degrees. At least the low temps froze the stupid sand paddock. Race gallery here Bunch of Videos here
Watkins Glen with EMRA
The end of the 44cup season was held at Watkins Glen under the ageis of EMRA. Fun racing with a god result. Race report here.
Summit Point
Well, if you have been browsing the site, you know I've been working on the new race car, the 944 na , and that's been keeping me busy. But it did get prepared and off racing we went. 1st was Summit PCA, got 3rd in the sprint and 2nd in the Enduro (only 42 laps down ha!) Next up was the first 44 cup race, also at Summit. Started 10th both races. Finished 7th in the 1st, and after a spin, back in 10th again in the 2nd. Here's a gallery of pics of the 944 in action.
Knee Dragging is cool
I came in 3rd at Summit at the HyperFest weekend, probably the last time I race the 911. Too busy for a race report and nobody took any pics, so ... However I did make it to another bike day on the Jefferson. Much better temps and I bought a cd of pics from the track photographer, so here's a gallery of all me for a change.
2006 update: Got pics from HyperFest Last 911 Race and Trophy Girls! Enjoy!
Sebring Club Race Galleries
While it took place waaay back in February, I'm finally posting the photos. (Team ECI team motto: You want it when?). Got 1300 pics for your viewing pleasure. These are thumnailed with the displayed pics @ 800x600. The originals are much larger, so if you want a specific pic, drop me an email.
Jefferson Circuit Scorcher
Mid Ohio PCA Race (via Sebring)
Well, it was kinda wet, and while I didn't break any wheels this time, I did have an "interesting time"
And I'll be back to Mid Ohio real soon, like next weekend. Read the story for why.
Summit Point Harvest Run
The Last of the German Touring Sportscar (GTS) races for the year. A fun time, here's the report.
Image Galleries
My Mid Ohio gallery disappeared into the ether (damn computers) but it's back now. Just in time for my region's Broken Wheel award
Finally got some spare time to post some image galleries from the 2004 track season. Grab a pillow and get comfy. There's over 1300 photos here. Thanks to Team ECI Photographer Karin "Eagle Eye" Weining.
Too soon after Mosport, I decided to sit this one out. I spent the day relaxed and visiting for once at the Summit Point PCA race.
At the NASA Summit Point Great Pumpkin Challenge the Sunday race was stopped by a red flag after several Factory Fords were involved in a nasty crash. I was leading my class at the time. Such is racing. However, I do have a video of Saturday's standing start. Warning, not for the easily excitable VIDEOS HERE
While it's raining in the picture on the left, that still didn't help me. If it's August, it must be time for the Mosport Follies - aka A Racer's Tale of Woe
Summit Point July
It was a small field, but I scored two 2nd places while racing in the GTS Challenge series at the Summit Point Hype-R-Fest in July. Of course they always stick the short guy with the tallest trophy girl.
Mid Ohio Race
1st race of the year only lasted 8 minutes. Flying through the esses, my left rear wheel broke and flew off the car leaving me high and dry with a DNF. So much for the new paint job. No race report - too busy at work - but Karin stepped up to the place once again, and we have 273 photos of the weekend - Mostly of Team ECI, but that's not all bad.
And Yes, that was a Factory Fuchs that broke. Be careful out there..
Updated: Video of the fateful lap
Idle Hands in the Off Season
We had our own reality show all last year - read the saga below - so lets try another TV theme: Time for a 911 Makeover, or Queer Eye for the Straight 911
* 2003 Season *
Well, the reason I haven't written much lately is because after the summer I had I rather not dwell on it. But hey, I've never shied away from bad news. Sometimes the racing is not all podiums and fun. Thinking about going racing? Read about it when it doesn't go right.
While I've haven't written anything recently, I forgot that I did post a huge gallery of pictures from the Watkins Glen Club Race. So here they are: 1st Gallery is about 20 images of me, mostly dicing with Lou Bedstadt in the fun and sprint races. The 2nd Gallery is 500 pics covering the entire event weekend
Mid Ohio Club Race 2003
You've seen the video, you've heard the rant, now it's time for the picture gallery. Another 200+ pictures from Karin Weining - you go girl!
BeaveRun Drivers Ed June
Hoping to get a jump on all the racers going to the 1st race at BeaveRun, we joined CVR for a weekend at the North Course. Of course it rained on Saturday, but the other days were good. Nice track. The start of the race will be fun with turn one up over a hill and to the left. 200 pictures in the gallery here.
Lime Rock Club Race 2003
Memorial Day Weekend and it's raining. Since I'm not at a race, why not write about one.
(it rained that weekend too)
Mid Ohio Club Race 2003
See what happens when I get stuck in an airport for 4 hours? you get another race report plus video too! Don't blame me, blame Continental Airlines
Road Atlanta Club Race 2003
For the 1st time in my race career, I was #1 in class. Did it hold during the race?, find out in the race report.
While waiting for the tracks to appear from under their layer of snow, I fed my racing bug with Karts. All I can say, other than Damn this is fun!, is I'm glad we get to throw out one of our nights for the point championships. Rules / Reports / Pictures / Results all here
I finally awoke from my coma and finished my Summit Point Race Report. Its got the usual suspects, cheap thrills, scantily clad women, evil road racers, videos, out of focus photos, all finely smothered beneath a layer of stunted prose. If you fall into a coma reading it, well, its not my problem. But if you want to take a chance ...
Enter here at your own risk.
Carolina Motorsport Park is the end of the 2002 season. I got t-boned 1/3 thru the enduro, ending my season about 60 minutes earlier than I wanted. I'm still working on my Summit Point Race report, but meanwhile here's a photo gallery of CMP.
Another Club Race? You guessed it: More rain in the forecast. At least now I got the trailer.
1st PCA Club Race at Virginia Intl. Raceway (VIR).
Race report and gallery here.
Rausch Creek RallyX
Well, the event seemed to be organized by chipmunks with chromosomal damage, but there were some cool, well prepped, Club Rally cars. First event at the RallyPark NorthEast at Rausch Creek
Catching Fish at Lime Rock?
This race report was allegedly found in the belly of a trout.
Road Atlanta. First race of 2002. This time the race report was found hidden under a used sway bar.
* 2001 Season *
Watkins Glen Club Race 2001
Who needs skill, when you have Luck! A fun race, a sprint race and an enduro. All in one weekend at the land of Blue Armco.
My race-report is missing-in-action, but at least you can visit the picture gallery.
* 2000 Season *

Nurburgring: Driver Paradise
Two innocent Porsche car geeks visit the International BMW School at the greatest racetrack in the world: the Nurburgring in Germany. Much hilarity ensues.
This just in: We won the Broken Wheel award for 1999
DelPCA 1998 Driver of the Year
The Delaware Region Porsche Club of America named Cris Brady as the Driver of the Year for 1998. The award was given in recognition of his overall skill improvement and enthusiasm at the track. The Alpine Software Team put in a showing of over 20 track days in 1998 before being grounded in early September with mechanical difficulties that led to a full engine rebuild on the 944 turbo. We showed the Alpine banner at Summit Point, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Pocono and Lime Rock racetracks.
Hopefully, we won't follow in the footsteps of several of the previous awardees; that is, winning the Broken Wheel award the next year for most spectacular damage to a car. Winner of that award in 1998 was Joel Wahlsten, whose 944 Turbo S (right) with the yellow wheels can be seen dogging me on its last day on the track.
Working the Carousel at Summit Point in the Turbo in 1998
Look what my huskies dragged home:
Christmas came early this year!
After losing my 944 turbo to a crackhead earlier this year, Santa (i.e. insurance company and my mutual funds) delivered a 1973 Carrera RS replica racecar under my tree. Setup for racing, its ready out of the box to go PCA Club Racing and Vintage Racing. Click here to see more about my new baby.

Hey thats the company car! What's it doing out on the track?
We will be taking the Porsche race car to all the track events held by the Potomac Region PCA in 2000, plus club races at Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and Summit Point. Chances are the company BMW M3 will see a few low-key track days with the BMW club. Click here to see the track schedule. All are welcome to visit.

* 2007 Season *
For vacation this year I decided to take a two day racing school for bikes with Keith Code's California Superbike School. They were having it at one of the best racing tracks in America, the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. You got to see the pics of this facility. What a place!
It's Fall, the end of the 2007 Season. How did it turn out? Check out the NASA Nationals and PCA Summit. It's the old Good News/Bad News situation.
