Watkins Glen with the 44Cup
Looks wet, right?
The Alpine Motorsports Racer's Edge Joel Wahlsten 44Cup car done real good. I'd like to thank my sponsors MasterCard, I promised to put down at least $20 next month ....

Even on trashed fronts with the car understeering like a pig, I managed to get 6th. I never got close to an apex all day ... It was a good contest between Eric (no 3rd Gear) Rupert and me (no grip). I got past him and kept him behind me. He ended up cording his Hoosiers trying to pressure me :) I kept on getting bedeviled by a turbo who would zoom past on a straightway, but park it in the corners. Quite frustrating.

Saturday the heavens opened up and we had a wet track. Too bad for the other guys. I grabbed a bunch of spots on the start, worked thru the field picking cars off and was running 3rd. Kicked a lot of turbo butt. I was battling a turbo, he got past me when another (yellow) turbo spun in the laces and the turbo behind me ran a pick on me when I got stuck behind a slower car waiting for the yellow turbo to stop spinning. Russ Franklin was battling Ricky for the NA lead when he lost it on the big sweeper out of the bus stop heading into the laces and stuffed into the tirewall. I didn't have any NA competition anywhere near me, so I cruised the last couple of laps home, bringing the car into 2nd place.

Next year with real (read Hoosiers) tires on the car, I hope to give the front runners a run for the money on dry tracks. I also plan to do some PCA races, like the Glen and MidOhio. Now its time to put that fire system in.

2nd place in the last race. Nice way to end the season.

See ya next year. Now its time to go Karting for the winter...
